An archipelago of exquisite asymmetry, so expansive, it is the second largest in the world, with over 7,000 islands scattered in contrasting beauty located between the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean. These volcanic formations, lagoons, rice terraces and underwater terrains are drenched in luminosity and populated by a fusion of vibrant ethnicities. This is the PHILIPPINES.

Within these realms where the sky meets the sea a promise of poetry amidst nature exists. Fringed white sand beaches and crystalline waters, jagged limestone cliffs and cascading waterfalls as well as an underwater oasis of pristine coral reefs and abundant marine life. In harmony with these natural wonders, and at the heart of this tropical paradise, are the Filipino people, considered and known to be amongst the friendliest on earth – the concept of ‘extended family’ defines their unending kindness and hospitality as well as celebration of cultural customs and traditions.

Curious to journey on this exclusive heritage trip? Our itinerary is designed to island hop in beautiful sway, exploring co-founder Stephanie’s heritage, and uncover essences of the PHILIPPINES as experienced through natural elements, remote coordinates, exotic culinary expressions and nuances of traditions and way of life. We believe that traversing within this vast oceanic region engages the inner spirit as we intentionally slow down, find rhythm with nature and immerse in the interflow of topography and culture knowing that all are intricately interconnected.

Our travel will begin in the capital, Manila, for the first two nights. We rest stylishly at the Henry Hotel, taking moments to experience the cosmopolitan hub, its hectic streetscapes and creative undercurrents in the contemporary art scene as well as indulge in cuisine at acclaimed joints such as Toyo Eatery (Asia’s 50 best). From the capital we embark to the island of Siargao a tear drop shape in the southeastern part of the Philippines that beckons surfers from around the world for its glossy barrels. Here we will settle into an island rhythm for four nights, our private accommodations enveloped in a tangle of monstera and palms, with bamboo thatched roofs and a rainwater fed private swimming pool.

Days on the island are likely barefoot, with time for relaxation, sun bathing, mantras, yoga & introspection, as well as hopping to other nearby more remote islands including Naked Island, Daku Island and Guyam Island. Local and inventive cuisine will satiate our curiosity for exotic ingredients including dishes like kinilaw, the Filipino answer to ceviche as well as ‘mangga’ local mangos, and crab cooked in banana leaves. A highlight for foodies, Roots Siargao, inventive cuisine intentionally crafted through the exchange of ideas, traditions and knowledge.

Following this beautiful initiation with island life, serendipitous encounters with locals and an intimate immersion in the tropics we take a short flight to El Nido, Palawan, arguably one of the best islands in the world and most stunning seascapes. A trip to the Philippines is perhaps not complete without visiting this hotspot locale, famed for the inspiration behind Alex Garlands novel ‘the Beach’. Ensconced by limestone cliffs and seduced by an endless expanse of turquoise, our four days here will be spent captivated by the pristine waters, relaxing on remote windswept beaches and entering a state of being called ‘The Blue Mind’ a concept conceived from the notion that water is the essence of life and to be close to – or submerged in water –  is to feel engaged with the world. Activities (all optional) include snorkeling, island hopping, kayaking, yoga, kiteboarding, massage, and hiking. Time spent your way.

Life, like a canvas, gains meaning through the strokes of experience, hues of emotion, and the artistry of connection.
